The pineal gland secretes an impeccable hormone from serotonin that induces good night sleep in human. Guessed it right; the neuroendocrine hormone is melatonin. It is a naturally occurring chemical messenger a.k.a sleeping hormone as it promotes sleep at night. Precisely, it controls people’s sleep-wake cycle.
However, soon after puberty comes, production of this hormone goes down to a good level. The worse happens when people are diagnosed with insomnia. Waking up till late nights might be cool, but all 4 am talks are not happy ones. Chronic sleep deprivation is a pathological condition, and it entails treatment.
Researchers say 2 out of 7 people are insomniac on an average basis. In majority cases, they try to compensate their original sleeping hours with small naps throughout the day. However, the bitter truth is that it only deteriorates the condition by decreasing the natural sleep drive.
